Pinks

I just have to post this cause I think it's so darn cute.

I was going about my daily afternoon tasks when I turned around and Carter held up his hands full of pink-hued crayons and said, "I got pinks, Mom!" It was so cute how he said it. He speaks very clearly, sometimes with spaces between the words. He said it like this,
"I got pinks, Mom!" It was too cute.

I've noticed him do this a few times before. He digs through our bin of crayons and pulls out all the pink and red-violet ones. Maybe it's because he's grown up with so much pink around him from all of his big sister's toys and clothes. He's so masculine in every way, then once in a while he'll pull out all the pink crayons to color with! He's fun! I adore him.

Per Uncle Jordy's request, here is a post about what we're up to lately.

While doing a huge organization and cleaning of Lily's room, she made this cool mask for herself.

This is Lily's little pal, Anna, from school. They met at the beginning of school and were friends immediately. Anna said to Lily, "Do you want to be friends?" and Lily responded, "I was thinking the exact same thing!"

Have I ever mentioned that Carter loves construction vehicles? He adores them and knows every single one of them. He loves riding in the van and shouting out when he sees a construction vehicle and what it's called. He can identify them so quickly and with incredible enthusiasm.

Aaron took Carter out for a daddy-Carter date. They went and looked at tons of construction vehicles. Yes, heaven for Carter. Here Carter is knocking on the track to see what it's made of. This one is hard and made of metal.

Aaron took Lily to our church's Princess Ball. Lily felt lovely and had the time of her life with her daddy. He is her dreamboat. (He's mine too!)

Carter put Daddy's shoes on. They fit him pretty well, eh?

Nothing big is taking place at our house...just lots of little things!

Craving

Today I'm feeling all pregnant and wanting to just sit down and eat a whole big batch of something chocolately and gooey...and not feel one twinge of guilt or regret about it!This is the first time I've felt this during this pregnancy. Confession: there was a period of time during my pregnancy with Carter where I'd sit down every afternoon with half a dozen gooey chocolate chip cookies and eat them all in delight. I don't remember how long that went on but I loved it.

So what am I going to do about my current craving? Probably put it off for a few days until I can't stand it. Then break down and go buy some Reece's peanut butter cups, then make this recipe I found on my friend's blog. Really I wish I could just eat a big batch that she makes.

Post script:
I made the cookies that day. They were yummy but not what I was having a hankering for. So we'll see if that craving comes back some time. At this point, I'm just eating everything and a lot of it!

Broad stripes and bright stars

September 14 is the anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner. Lily's school put on a fantastic program honoring our flag and country. Lily sang "Yankee Doodle" strong and loudly with the other kindergarteners. Her face lit up when she saw me there to watch...and that lit up my heart! After the program the students formed a living representation of the flag that flew when the Star Spangled Banner was written. Can you find Lily? Hint: she's in the front row!

Creating

I love to create cute things. I don't make crafts very often any more. But this week I did two projects that fulfilled my need for cuteness and creativity. I made these candy boxes that my sister-in-law and friend cut out for me. She does such fun things with her cricut! As I assembled them yesterday I was in love with the colors and patterns of the ribbons and papers. I said out loud, "These are so cute I think I could scream!" I think Aaron thought to himself, "That's one thing about Jill that I don't quite get." Anyway, I had so much fun making and sharing them.

Too cute! Who wouldn't love to receive a little bundle of cuteness with something sweet inside?!

One of my girlfriends is expecting a baby this month so I made invitations for a small get-together. I had tons of fun cutting out and assembling cars, trucks, and vans. Lily turned one of the cars into a Lightning McQueen for Carter. Carter and Lily sat by me and worked on crafts of their own while I worked. I really enjoyed that.

Little Hazel

I am so excited and so thankful to be expecting a baby!

This is little Hazel. I love her and she makes me laugh already. We've had a few ultrasounds to monitor some goofy stuff going on my my pregnancy. I have loved seeing her in every ultrasound. She is a wiggler and a mover! She loves to curl up in a ball, which sometimes makes it difficult for the ultrasound technicians to see what they're trying to get a look at.

Pregnancy is often uncomfortable, inconvenient, and tiring. However, it is such a miraculous amazing experience! I love it! It is a privilege to create life and carry a precious baby. We're human and mortal, which means the process doesn't always work perfectly. Sometimes trying to get pregnant and stay pregnant can be rocky. I feel so thankful to be pregnant with this beautiful little girl! She's set to arrive sometime around January 24, 2010.
