Edith Roosevelt and George Washington

Lily has been studying all the presidents of the United States at school. This week they had a Presidents and First Ladies' Tea. They also learned etiquette used during colonial times.

Lily dressed up as Edith Roosevelt, wife of Teddy Roosevelt. Her escort was George Washington. It was so cute to see the boys escort the girls to their seats and stay standing until all the girls were seated.

Once seated, they toasted each other by reciting the beginning of the Declaration of Independence. Then they politely enjoyed their delectables.

Lily's Declaration of Independence. (I think she requested a dramatic pan featuring her pink cowgirl boots!)

My school envy has been growing and growing as you keep posting all these great events Lily has participated in! Ashton's school is great--test scores are really high--but I'd rather he was learning more about our country like Lily is! Wow!

WOW! I am really impressed with cowgirls in pink boots who can recite from the Declaration of Independence. Yahoo Lily... your tea party looked so elegant. I must say that I recognized Edith Roosevelt's dress as one that her mother once wore and that makes it a very special dress to wear to a fancy tea party!

You are awesome Lily. I can't even recite that, I wish I could. I am most grateful for this country Heavenly Father has blessed us with.
