How do you? round 2

First a little update: We attended a nice funeral service for Dean and his mom last week. God is a God of miracles, Dean's little brother is recovering very well.

Here's another "How do you?" post:

How do you store extra bags and purses when not in use?

and

What do you eat for breakfast on Christmas morning and at what point in the festivities do you eat it?

Hey Jilly Bean,

* I shouldn't be answering your first question becuase I don't have a good answer. All my extra bags and purses are thrown in the top of the coat closet.

* Question #2 has a better answer. I always try to make Christmas breakfast nice and fun. Cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate are a must then we ususally have french toast, sausage, fruit, OJ, etc. We are never in a rush to get to the presents. The kids wake up and look through their stockings first. Then we have breakfast, read or act out the manger scene, and then we move on to the presents. I love that we don't rush down stairs and tear open the gifts, slowing it down and spending time together helps us to think about the true meaning of Christmas. Hope that helps...Merry Christmas!

We have cinnamon rolls and fresh squeezed orange juice. My husband, who never eats breakfast usually, makes a big deal out of eating it slowly and reading the newspaper before anyone can go near the tree and presents! But even as my kids get older they insist on keeping up the traditions!

My extra purses are put in a box in the top of my closet. I do use some of them occasionally, but I desperately need to go through them. The ones in regular rotation I put on a hook in my office or laundry.

We basically ate candy for breakfast :) My mom did go to all the effort of making sure there was a banana in our stocking and I usually got around to that. She even unsuccessfully made something a few times, but we're always to full of candy to enjoy it. Terrible, I know.
HOWEVER- Tyson's family does it much different. His mom makes fruit compote in a crock pot and starts it the night before. For those waiting for the rest of the crew they eat it before the unwrapping and the rest of us eat it after. I'm actually not a fan of the stuff, but I'm sure there are other recipes. His family loves it though.

First of all. way cute picture and second we have big fat cinnamon rolls. My mom always made them the night before and cooked them in the morning so they were hot and fresh, We ate them throught the whole day. I carried it on. I make cinnamon rolls that we eat, but we also go to Greg's moms house for big braekfast at around 10- 10:30 ish. It's so fun finding and starting new traditions with our families, isn't it.

I've never been one to have more than 2 purses, but lately I've been thinking about getting a Miche bag!

Growing up, we had a strange breakfast tradition and Adam would gag if I mentioned it. We don't know where it started, but we always had bacon and grape jelly rolled up in a tortilla. Yum! We always got up, dressed, ate breakfast and brushed our teeth before gifts.
Now, Adam and I have started new traditions. We do a breakfast casserole that you can prepare the night before and put in the fridge. As soon as we wake up, we put it in the oven, allowing the kids to do stockings and Santa gifts first. Then we eat and move on to the rest of the gifts. This year was interesting. Adalyn was ready for a nap before we were half way done, so that was our breakfast break. :)

Dang, I wish I would have read all of these BEFORE Christmas! Good ideas. I have all my purses and bags crammed in my closet... no help to you. Aaaand... we rush in and open our gifts and eat breakfast AFTERWARDS (menu varies every year)... again, no help.

Next year's gonna be different though!

This is very after the fact...Christmas morning is very casual at our house. Santa always brings a variety pack of mini cereals for us to choose from. So after we eat the orange and nuts in our stocking and whatever other treats we get, we choose a cereal and eat when we want :)

Baked eggs with cheese on top are always on the menu, sausage and/or bacon, orange juice, egg nog, and danish pastries (My mom is Danish-Canadian) Sometimes we'll have aebelskivers (danish pancake-like filled balls - those are a family favorite) Yum! I love Christmas morning. It is so special and memorable. Fun to catch up on your blog! :)
